Metaverse Simply Explained

You may have heard of the word METAVERSE and it seems like the reigning tech jargon and quite difficult to understand, actually it is quite easy to understand and that's why i wrote this for you. 

The metaverse can be referred to as a digital space/virtual reality world that is made to look like real life environments by the use of virtual reality(VR) or the use of augmented reality(AR). In the Hebrew language where it was coined from, the word metaverse means " beyond our universe", it speaks of a universe transcending our reality.

The word Metaverse is also used in the gaming industry to refer to a virtual gaming world where users have a character (avatar) that represents them in the game. 

Recently, blockchain technology has embraced the metaverse, making it possible for users to buy virtual lands(a piece of virtual land sold for $2.3millon on axie infinity), properties e.t.c via the use of cryptocurrency. This is a great disruption in the tech world!

So think of it this way, in the metaverse you do not just browse and scroll through your screen to explore the internet, rather you experience the internet via the use of a VR or AR headset. For instance, before the metaverse you can only shop online by checking out some online shops,search for the items you want to get and place an order but with the metaverse, you're not just scrolling, and searching while paying attention to your phone screen, rather you are experiencing the shopping, you(your avatar) are in the shop, checking out the items you need to get, then place your order after you're done. It's really going to be a crazy and amazing experience!

However, it's important to note that getting into the metaverse isn't automatic for anyone including businesses, here's what this means; if you're going to shop on the metaverse, you can only visit shopping malls that are active in the metaverse.
